Product Description
Nothing is more comforting than a home-cooked meal. And the best home cooking starts with fresh ingredients found close to home with foods that are local, seasonal, and organic. Raised in her grandmother's Southern kitchen, Katie Lee Joel comes from a "family of great cooks and big eaters." And she knows exactly what appeals to the home cook: recipes that are delicious, easy to follow, quick to prepare, and made with readily available seasonal ingredients.

In The Comfort Table, Katie dips into her archive of family recipes and updates all the classics from her childhood growing up in West Virginia, and also creates some inventive new favorites. This mouthwatering assortment of more than 125 recipes includes Southern staples like Fried Green Tomatoes, Chicken and Dumplings, Peach Cobbler, Meatloaf, and the quintessential Pulled Pork BBQ, which stand alongside contemporary classics like Roasted Carrot and Ginger Soup, Citrus-Tarragon Mahi-Mahi, and Dijon and Pistachio-Crusted Rack of Lamb.

But The Comfort Table is about more than just good old-fashioned home cooking. It's about sharing delicious, healthful meals -- made with love -- for friends and family. Katie's rich assortment of recipes for starters, salads, soups, entrees, side dishes, breads, breakfast, desserts, and drinks, is accompanied by entertaining tips and anecdotes to delight the modern foodie. The Comfort Table is a comprehensive, unpretentious, refreshingly accessible guide to creating unforgettable meals for occasions big and small.

5 out of 5 stars awesome!!!   January 1, 2009
What a simple but delicious cookbook! I've got TONS of cookbooks but this is one of my favorites ever. I can't wait to make more. Fiesta wontons are delish. Highly recommend.

5 out of 5 stars The Comfort Table is a warm, comfortable(!) cookbook!   December 29, 2008
When I recieved my copy of The Comfort Table by Katie Lee Joel, I knew that I was going to thoroughly enjoy it, and I have! It is a beautiful book, very well written, I feel as though I am sitting right next to Katie as she tells her stories. I haven't had a chance to try out any of the recipes yet, but am anxious to soon. I know this is a cookbook I will enjoy for many years to come.

5 out of 5 stars Great recipes   December 26, 2008
I read this book, not sure if I would like it since it was written by Billy Joel's wife, and thinking it might not be so good since she is from a famous family and that is how she got her recipes published, but I was happily proven wrong. The recipes are great and delicious.

I especially liked the recipe for Buttermilk Pancakes with Caramelized Bananas, talk about comfort food on a cold winter morning, yum! The cookbook is full of yummy recipes that everyone likes, such as Hot Spinach and Artichoke Dip and Deviled Eggs. Each recipe the author writes a little history behind the recipe which I enjoyed. I also love the photos throughout the book especially of Katie's wedding photo with the Wedding Biscotti recipe. What a great recipe for a wedding or special occasion. It is great to have such a great cook here on Long Island. Bravo!

5 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS COOKBOOK   December 5, 2008
I read about this cookbook in a Cosmo Magazine. It had a few recipes included in the article, all of which looked yummy. I told my sister about it and we found it on Amazon for a third of the price that it is in the store! We ordered 3 - one for all three sisters. When they finally came, we made the Spinach Artichoke dip that night. The next morning we made the Nutty Banana Bread. Soooo Delicious! The best thing is, most of the recipes I actually want and am able to make... and I can't cook at all! I love this cookbook so much, I ended up ordering this same cookbook for my Dad for Christmas!

This book came in great packaging and was well protected from the damages of the mail system. It appears to be brand new with absolutely NO signs of use! The price was great therefore I enjoyed a savings from the regular price at a local book store! My daughter requested this for Christmast so I'm happy to be able to give it to her! Thanks for another great Amazon experience! Another happy customer!
