Product Description In the Danza family, the men did most of the cooking -- great Italian-American food that has remained the favorite cuisine in American households for more than a century. Now, actor, television personality, and exuberant cook Tony Danza and his son, Marc (and grandson, Nicholas!), invite you into the kitchen with their huge, at times hilarious, Italian-American clan for 50 top-secret family recipes (the sauce and the lasagna) and never-before-shared stories and photographs. You'll meet Tony's mom and dad, and Tony's mom's family, the Camisas. You'll meet Marc's family and of course his son, Nicholas. You'll meet the uncles, the aunts, and the cousins, all important people in Tony's and Marc's upbringing. You'll read stories about an Italian immigrant family that grew strong in America and really lived the American dream. The stories are, for the most part, wrapped around the recipes and the food that was the center of family life: Uncle John's Pasta with Prosciutto Sauce, Mother's Lasagna, Chicken with Lemon and Garlic, Holiday Antipasto, Roasted Chicken and Potatoes, Escarole and Bean Soup, Ricotta Cheesecake, and even Tony and Marc's Quick or Date Sauce, a fabulous tomato sauce that's fast, easy, and sure to help you impress the ladies. So pull up a chair, pick up a fork, and join Tony and Marc as they cook, eat, and laugh their way through the generations. And remember, "don't fill up on the antipasto."

Authentic and Delicious in the Style of All of Our Italian American Families December 6, 2008 This is a wonderful book in the style of the great Laurie Colwin, but with MANY MORE recipes than any of her books. AUTHENTIC Italian American, from the cute red "tablecloth" to the recipes. Tony's authentic family stories are a bonus whether you're Italian or not (I'm not). If you were lucky enough to grow up in an Italian American family, you relate. Fun, simplicity and great taste. The recipes are perfect, made in the classic way of every grandmother or dad who cooks "on Sunday" and every other day. I give this 5 stars and recommend it as a gift especially for Italian Americans and especially for dads, who even if they don't "cook", COULD if they wanted to. I never met an authentic Italian American old school dad who didn't know how to make meatballs and sauce properly! If you can't cook, buy this book and you'll have fun while coming out with an awesome collection of meals made like NORMAL people who dont' have commercial cooking empires, that'll make everyone you cook for happy and last you a lifetime.
Manja- Manja November 11, 2008 This was a great book. Funny, great recipes, entertaining. .Such right on stories about all us Italians. I couldnt put it down. My 86 year old motherinlaw- VERY ITALIAN- Loved it also. She read it in one afternoon.
Tony Danza Don't Fill Up on the Antipasto October 17, 2008 Don't Fill Up on the Antipasto: Tony Danza's Father-Son Cookbook
This book was so enjoyable and even more meaningful if you're from a large family. The stories were wonderful and I intend to try many of the recipes.
Remembering my Italian heritage September 12, 2008 I enjoyed this cookbook very much. I am Italian and it brought back a lot of memories from my childhood with my grandparents.
This book makes you want to make the memories his family has August 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I usually adjust recipes, but no need to with this book. They taste authentic italian, they're easy to make, and pretty upon presentation. The roasted vegetable pasta dish I made last night was heavenly, six bucks to make, and it was an easy clean up too! I like the stories, even though I have a small family, they motivate me to have everyone sit at the table like a big italian family! This book is worth twice the price.
