Product Description
Featuring the artwork of over 25 leading artists with name recognitionAs art journaling grows in popularity (even attracting a new breed of scrapbookers who call themselves "life artists"), there is a movement afoot toward creating more authentic, personal, what some people call "raw" journals. These journals are filled with not just attractive, well-composed pages, but pages that are filled with personal, meaningful content. True Visions is focused on ways to bring authenticity and meaning into one's art journaling. The book will examine themes and topics common to all while offering activities and exercises to create rich meaningful content. Each chapter will highlight familiar subject areas such as life events, spirituality, childhood, and even an artist's favorite writings. Within each topic, readers are given guided activities and exercises for developing content, provided one or two artistic techniques, and are shown inspiring examples of work by a variety of talented art journal artists.

For this one, buy paper not electronic December 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As much as I love my Kindle, it just wouldn't do justice to this book. You will want a full color, paper edition that you can examine very closely, as it is packed to the gills with ideas. There is enough inspiration here to keep you buzzing for months!
How to get to your inner voice and speak visually from it November 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book really addresses speaking from your authentic self, which is how you get to a unique expression in your art journaling. She is a great teacherr.
one of the best September 17, 2008 Art journaling has become quite popular in the past 5+ years, as an outgrowth of DIY art activities in general - making your own greeting cards, altered books, scarpbooking, collage, ATCs (Artist Trading Cards). This is one of many books on this subject and one of the best. It has just enough discussion, suggestions and how to's to make it useful for people at any level. The important thing about making an artful journal is that it is for you and your self expression, not for commercial purposes, so don't get tied down with judging what you're doing. The questions are, does it help you in some way, does it express something valuable to your experience, does it feel good or peaceful to do something like this? If so, go ahead and explore this mixed media world.

I highly recommend this book. It is packed with loads of interesting material to inspire any budding artist. It has some amazing wonderful work from artists and is full of information and techniques for you to try out. The book also has interesting ideas and prompts written down on the right hand side of each page spread.A well set out book easy to read and awesome pictures of artwork.
Open ended inspiration August 20, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
True Vision is an excellent resource for journal artists. The open-ended prompts and ideas are geared toward more experienced art journalers. The book is well organized with interviews with some of the artists: thoughtful questions and answers.
A great addition to your library if you love journaling.
