Amazon.com Review
The book that started the phenomenon is now available in a deluxe collector's edition! Featuring a ribbon bookmark, cloth cover, ragged edges, new chapter opener designs, and a beautiful protective slipcase, this edition is perfect for fans and collectors alike.

Bella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Bella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Bella, the person Edward holds most dear.

Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

3 out of 5 stars Storyline intrigued... the written word annoyed   November 19, 2008

With all the hype of this series (and movie) it seemed appropriate to read this book just to see what made it such a phenomenon.

It took me only a day to read because it was written so simply, although it is verbose. The storyline itself is so far from reality it was a nice break indeed. I agree with other reviewers on many things including the lack of depth in the characters and constant reminder of the cold, stone-like vampire who was so beautiful.

As an adult I can appreciate it as a YA novel, but it seems that it may tell teenage girls everywhere it's ok to be a melodramatic damsel in distress (the only way her hero will be there to save her) as far as I know needing someone that much - and rather die than to be without them -can be a very unhealthy dose of medicine. Keep in mind this is a FANTASY WORLD the author has created.

Hopefully the movie captures the intrigue... it will certainly cut out all the wordiness.

3 out of 5 stars Good easy read...   November 19, 2008
Yes, it was entertaining on a very shallow level, but it doesnt match some of the other stuff there is to read...the story, plot, and characters werent very developed, and a ten year old could read all the words...even if they didnt understand what it meant when they layed together, and lieing to there parents. I think it was a good idea, but could have been written in a better style. Im still reading the series though, its interesting, just not challenging.

5 out of 5 stars Im addicted!!!   November 19, 2008
This is the kind of book that just keeps you wanting more. I cant seem to put it down. The way the author describes everything it makes you feel like your there and keeps you reading on. The story line is very intriguing.

3 out of 5 stars It was good, but as not as good as everyone made it out to be...   November 19, 2008
I picked up this book after realizing that the movie coming out was based on it, so I decided to read to book because I've heard so much about it from fans who would basically attacked anyone that insulted it... and because I didn't want the movie to ruin any chance of me wanting to read the book.

I began reading and at first, it was really interesting; kept me reading and wanting to hear more about this Edward Cullen (for that secret fangirl in me). The escalating romance was interesting but then it began to remind me of the one reason why I hated Romeo and Juliet: Bella only knew this person for how many days before realizing that she was madly in love with him and would sacrifice her life for this man that couldn't die. That was when three words popped into my mind: Cheesy Love Story.

But nevertheless, I still read on because I was a glutton for these stories every now and then. By the time I began the last couple chapters, I was completely aware that this story was aimed at young teenage girls because the very few action scenes had so much more potential that could have made the book so much more appealing to more than one gender. Who knows, maybe she was saving them for its sequel. Or maybe the movie will play it up a bit and change the story around a little. With 30 pages left, I had little enthusiasm to finish the book because it became so cliche and repetitive...

However, the book did have some good and new concepts, and after all, it kept me busy for a good 3 days. I still would suggest it to other people to read, but as far as I know, my friends and I who read it were simply like, "It was eh, not bad, just eh." But then again, we're not high school girls gossiping about who's the hottest guy in the cafeteria... maybe if we read this a few years ago then we might have felt different about it.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing   November 19, 2008
Stephanie Meyers is a grand author. Her books are absolutely absorbing and completely thrilling. A wonderful book to read. Alice Cullen is the best!
